Reverse Osmosis Chemicals for RO Membranes, Plant & Equipment

Reverse Osmosis Chemicals International are world leading reverse osmosis technology specialists pioneering the development of high performance reverse osmosis chemicals, analytical monitoring equipment and service support solutions. Our chemical products are based on advanced formulations and include RO membrane cleaners, scale inhibitors and antiscalants, corrosion inhibitors, biocides, de-chlorinators and flocculants. Our advanced formulations have been developed specifically for the international desalination and reverse osmosis sectors and offer significant safety, cost, environmental and operational performance benefits over traditional products.

In addition to our performance chemicals we also offer in-field analytical instruments and laboratory based support services including Silt Density Index monitoring equipment, microbiological testing and membrane autopsy and analysis services.

Reverse Osmosis

reverse-osmosis-membranes-2Reverse osmosis is a membrane filtration process that is used extensively for the desalination and purification of water. It is a natural process that was first described in 1748 by French scientist Jean Antoine Nollet. However, it was not until the 1950’s, as a result of research funded by the Office of Saline Water in the USA that practical reverse osmosis membranes capable of discriminating against small ions were developed. The step that made reverse osmosis a truly practical proposition was the discovery of the anistropic membrane. For more information about reverse osmosis >>

Advanced Reverse OsmosisTechnologies

Reverse Osmosis Chemicals International offer a range of advanced chemical and analytical technologies developed to provide several key performance benefits including cost, convenience, operational performance and environmental impact. Our advanced reverse osmosis products are specially formulated help improve and then maintain high recovery rates, improve operational efficiency; and reduce scaling and corrosion risks.

Reverse Osmosis Membrane Cleaners

ro-membranesThe use of high quality membrane cleaners is an important part of any reverse osmosis plant programme. There are advantages in cleaning membranes at an early stage of fouling, as irreversible damage can occur when cleaning excessively fouled membranes.

Reverse Osmosis Membrane Scale Inhibitors & Antiscalants

scale-saltsThe use of high performance RO membrane scale inhibitors is an essential component of any good reverse osmosis plant management programme. Reverse Osmosis Chemicals International offer a range of advanced technology RO scale inhibitors developed to deliver superior scale prevention performance, product stability across a wide pH range and excellent membrane compatability.

Reverse Osmosis Corrosion Inbibitors

corrosionThe use of an effective corrosion inhibitor is often an essential component of any good reverse osmosis plant management programme. This is because the product water from a reverse osmosis plant system invariably has a lower pH and as such is corrosive to carbon steel and other metals used in water storage and distribution systems.

RO Biocides & Disinfectants

biocidesOur range of high performance biocides are suitable for use in reverse osmosis systems. Non-oxidizing, non-ionic biocides can be used either on line or as part of a cleaning program to control biofouling in reverse osmosis membranes. When used as an on-line treatment, ROC biocides should be dosed prior to the RO system to control bio-growth in the membranes.

RO De-Chlorinators

chlorineAll good reverse osmosis pre-treatment programme it is essential that ALL chlorine be removed from the feed water prior to it entering the RO membranes. This is because chlorine will destroy polyamide thin film composite membranes and even trace amounts of free chlorine can cause oxidation damage, especially in the presence of metals such as iron.

RO Flocculants

reverse-osmosis-membranesIt is important to carefully monitor the quality of the reverse osmosis feed water to ensure that the Silt Density Index (SDI) does not exceed the maximum specified by the membrane manufacturer. The SDI can be controlled using our flocculation aids either alone, or in combination with other products.

Silt Density Index Monitoring & Analysis

accepta-auto-sdiSilt Density Index (SDI) has become the accepted standard for assessing the suitability of membrane processes. The SDI value is a measure of the decline in filtration rate of a membrane filter and is an indirect "measure" of all suspended solids, bacterial, and colloidal matter in the water to be treated.

We offer two precision SDI test instruments that allow the accurate monitoring and analysis of Silt Density Index.

Microbiological Testing & Membrane Autopsy

membrane-autopsyOur professional laboratory analysis and microbiology testing services are capable of performing an extensive range of microbiological testing and analyses. Additionally, we also offer membrane autopsy and analysis services that include bacteriological examination, light microscopy, electron microscopy, EDAX microanalysis and polymer degradation tests.
